It is the season of biopics in India as most of the industries are now focussing on this genre to produce successful movies. In this genre, Sports-biopic’s are taking the center stage. We have already seen the life stories of MS Dhoni, Milka Singh, and Mohammed Azharuddin told on the big screen while the biopics of Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu, and Pullela Gopichand are already in the pipeline.

On that note, here are three athletes from our state who deserve a biopic in Sandalwood. Also, all these sportsmen are widely popular across the country and hence, these movies can utilize a wide market across India.

1. Prakash Padukone

Former World No.1, Prakash Padukone is one of the most well-known Badminton players in the country. Also a Padmashri and an Arjuna awardee, Prakash, apart from his achievements on the court has also fuelled the dreams of many with his training academy in Bengaluru. Father of popular Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, Prakash Padukone’s biopic will be an interesting one to watch on the big screen.

2. Anil Kumble

One of the best spinners that the world has ever produced, Anil Kumble’s contribution to Indian cricket has been immense. His ten-wicket haul in a single innings against Pakistan at Delhi is still remembered and if any filmmaker has to attempt a sports-biopic in Karnataka, Kumble’s name should definitely feature in the list.

3. Rahul Dravid

Also known as ‘The Wall’, Rahul Dravid’s story is one which we would pay to watch on the big screen. Although his story might be devoid of the dramatic troupes, his inspiring story and lovable character will be a joy to watch for many. Considered as the most ‘under-credited’ player in the Indian team, this man deserves a biopic at the very least.
